Wilton "Four" Cogswell's areas of practice include advanced trust and estate planning with an emphasis on tax planning, emerging business, choice of entity and nonprofit organizations. Since 1992, he has counseled a wide variety of clients in sophisticated tax and estate-planning strategies, including the use of family limited partnerships and specialized trusts, general tax and transactional matters and real estate.
Mr. Cogswell began his practice as corporate counsel for a regional telephone company, and he continues to advise clients on new business formation, operation and transactional matters. Mr. Cogswell joined Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, PC as an Of Counsel member in 2005. From 1993 to present, Mr. Cogswell has maintained a private practice and remains Of Counsel with Wilton W. Cogswell, III, of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Representation of numerous clients in tax and estate planning through the use of both traditional and sophisticated techniques, including family limited partnerships and specialized trusts; creation and representation of tax exempt organizations, including private foundations, private operating foundations and public charities conducting operations both domestically and internationally; formation of largest community foundation in southern Colorado; formation, sale and reorganization of closely held business organizations, including multimillion dollar telephone company and ranch holding company.
